Restoring dignity through connection and care.
While visiting Nigeria, Wilmbi Foundation’s CEO made a compassionate journey to the Green Pasture Home Initiative Orphanage in Kano State. This was not a symbolic visit—it was a deliberate act of solidarity with children who have faced the unimaginable. The orphanage, home to dozens of children without parental support, has long been a refuge of safety, but also a place in need of consistent resources. With kindness and purpose, our CEO delivered aid directly, spending time with the children and caregivers.
From warm smiles to heartfelt conversations, the visit was a powerful affirmation that love knows no borders. We believe that humanitarian care is not just about delivering goods—it's about delivering presence, empathy, and respect. This project formed part of our broader commitment to child welfare in West Africa, ensuring that institutions like Green Pasture continue to have the resources they need to offer safety, nutrition, and a sense of belonging.
What we delivered.
Providing essentials that nourish the body and uplift the spirit.
To ensure every item met the actual needs of the orphanage, we worked closely with the home’s coordinators in advance. Our team provided essential food items such as rice, beans, cooking oil, and fruit, nutritious staples designed to support healthy growth and regular meal planning. Hygiene supplies including toothpaste, bathing soap, sanitary items, and detergent were also included to maintain cleanliness and personal wellbeing.
Clothing in various sizes was carefully packed and distributed, with attention given to both utility and comfort. In addition to meeting physical needs, these donations carried a symbolic message: that someone, somewhere, cares deeply about their journey. Each package was a vessel of care, thoughtfully curated to restore a sense of dignity. The simple act of receiving clean clothes or holding a new bar of soap can be deeply affirming for a child who may feel overlooked by the world. We wanted these children to know: they matter.

Orphanages across Nigeria, especially in under-resourced areas like Kano State, often function with limited support and fluctuating donations. These institutions carry immense responsibility for children's education, mental health, and social development, yet often operate on a shoestring budget. Providing aid goes beyond meeting physical needs. It affirms each child’s right to grow in safety, to be nourished, and to experience joy. It reinforces their worth and strengthens the capacity of caregivers who pour their lives into this work. At Wilmbi, we see every humanitarian action as a bridge between potential and opportunity. By extending this support, we are investing in a better future, one where every child, regardless of origin or circumstance, is given the foundation to thrive.

When small gestures bloom into big smiles.
From the moment we entered the grounds of Green Pasture Home, there was a palpable sense of anticipation and excitement. Children ran to greet us, some shy, others openly curious. Their enthusiasm was infectious, reminding us that joy can bloom even in places shaped by hardship. Throughout the visit, we shared songs, stories, and moments of connection. Laughter echoed in the halls as children tried on new clothes, sampled fruit, and unwrapped hygiene kits with delight. The most touching moments weren’t grand, they were simple and sincere: a child clinging to a donated item as if it were treasure, or a caregiver’s tearful gratitude. These are the moments that fuel our mission. They remind us that while material goods are temporary, the emotional impact of being seen, valued, and supported lasts much longer.

Creating pathways for long-term care and impact.
This project in Kano State marks the beginning of what we envision as a sustainable partnership. Following the visit, Wilmbi has initiated discussions on periodic donations, establishing a child mentorship initiative, and exploring ways to support educational access for the children at Green Pasture. We are also evaluating needs related to water access, vocational training, and healthcare screenings in the surrounding community. Our vision is not only to provide reactive support, but to co-create solutions that are locally informed, community-led, and future-focused. We call on our supporters to stay engaged.
